Holy, Holy, Holy
Good Shepherd Collective
Today is Monday the 23rd of February, in the first week of Lent.
Good Shepherd Collective sing a version of ‘Holy, Holy, Holy’. As you listen, take a moment to ponder the holiness of God and what this means in your life...
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty
Glory to the Father, Amen
Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth, and sky, and sea;
Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.
2:35
Today’s reading is from the Book of Leviticus.
Leviticus 19:1-2,11-18
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them: You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.
You shall not steal; you shall not deal falsely; and you shall not lie to one another. And you shall not swear falsely by my name, profaning the name of your God: I am the Lord.
You shall not defraud your neighbour; you shall not steal; and you shall not keep for yourself the wages of a labourer until morning. You shall not revile the deaf or put a stumbling-block before the blind; you shall fear your God: I am the Lord.
You shall not render an unjust judgement; you shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great: with justice you shall judge your neighbour. You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not profit by the blood of your neighbour: I am the Lord.
You shall not hate in your heart anyone of your kin; you shall reprove your neighbour, or you will incur guilt yourself. You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against any of your people, but you shall love your neighbour as yourself: I am the Lord.

Memories of the Forgotten
According to Jewish tradition, there are 613 commandments in the Hebrew Bible, the Christian Old Testament. Here are just a few of them. Most of them are framed in terms of what the People of God should not do. What’s your first reaction to this list?
The first commandment here, though, is very positive: Since God is holy, you also should be holy. What do you understand by that, and again how do you react?
Much of what is written here concerns treating those around you with justice. What part does working for justice play in your own life of faith?
As the passage is read again, listen out for those commandments that you already keep well, and others that you find particularly challenging.

10:17
Finally, speak to God about what you need from God to live a life of deeper holiness.
11:58
You have given all to me
To You, Lord, I return it.
Everything is Yours, do with it what you will.
Give me only Your love and Your grace,
That is enough for me.
Amen.
