In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The Kyiv Chamber Choir sing the Creed.

The First Glorious Mystery.  The Resurrection of Jesus

Do you know the Christ of the Resurrection?  Do you feel his life-giving power?

Alive to God:  The glory of God is man and woman fully alive. The more we reach out to God, the more God’s glory enlivens us.  Do you experience the abundance of life that Jesus came to give us?

The Second Glorious Mystery.  The Ascension of Jesus

Jesus’ disciples are not always very smart. They get things wrong and they misread the signals. Jesus lets them know about it from time to time, but he still wants them to be with him as he called them to be in the beginning.  Do you feel that call to be with him?

Despite the fact that Jesus has departed this world in a physical way, he has still promised to be with us. Do you feel that sense of Jesus acting in your life?  Do you recognise his presence, his promise, “Behold I am with you always,” being fulfilled in your life today?

The Third Glorious Mystery.  Pentecost

Between the Ascension and Pentecost, the early Christians gather together to pray, and in those prayers they are remembering Jesus in a number of ways.  How did you meet Jesus?

On Pentecost, the Spirit of God comes into the room,  floods them with joy, fills them with life, sets their hearts on fire, makes their memories of Jesus so vivid and powerful that they just have to tell other people about him. And as they tell Jesus’ story, they become Jesus’ story. Can we tell Jesus’ story? Can we become Jesus’ story?

The Fourth Glorious Mystery.  The Assumption

Like her Son, Mary is presented as gloriously bridging heaven and earth, the whole of her having a place in both. Mary is the model for our own life and death.  With this in mind, how does the Assumption of Mary make you feel?  Offer these thoughts and prayers to God.

All of Mary was taken up into heaven, all of her body.  How does this make you feel about your own body?

The Fifth Glorious Mystery. The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven

The coronation of our Lady, though not mentioned in Scripture,  is often understood as the completion of her Assumption.  Taken up into heaven, she is welcomed by the Trinity, the Father and Son jointly crown her while the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove hovers above the crown. There is a sense among believers that it is fitting that the Trinity honour Our Lady in this way.  Do I find this language of queen fitting for Our Lady, or is there some other way I would like to speak about her when I do her the honour that the Trinity does here?

Mary takes her place in heaven mainly because of her saying and living out her ‘Yes’ to God at the Incarnation.  Do I see myself fitting into God’s Kingdom?  What might I have to say ‘yes’ to in order to reach this?

O God, your only Son, bought for us the rewards of eternal life.  Now, as we have meditated on these mysteries, may we imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
