Pray As You Grow Theme Music (Guitar version)
The Creation of Human Beings
Become aware of your position.
Make yourself comfortable, and let yourself settle into an expectant stillness.
Focus your attention on your breathing, and become aware of God, who is filling you with life, right now.
Listen to this life-giving God, as you enter imaginatively into this Bible scene.
As you enter this scripture passage about God’s power of creation, be attentive to the images or words that stand out. Allow your imagination to transport you to the scene, so you can see, hear and touch as God creates.
1:50
Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, after our likeness, so they may rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move on the earth.”
God created humankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them,
male and female he created them.
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply! Fill the earth and subdue it! Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that moves on the ground.”
2:52
Genesis 2:7
The Lord God formed the man from the soil of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
3:13
Genesis 2:21-24
So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep, and while he was asleep, he took part of the man’s side and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the part he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. Then the man said,
“This one at last is bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
this one will be called ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.”
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and unites with his wife, and they become one family.

Dear Gravity
I wonder how this scene unfolds in your imagination. Stay with it and experience it for a while.
God created you, ‘in his own image’. Where do you recognise God’s image in yourself?
“And God blessed them.” How does this blessing on humankind make you feel?
As you realise the dignity of your own creation, allow this dignity to fill your heart.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
