The test of a good decision is deep and abiding peace… and being gently sent out to accomplish what has been decided…

Let your breathing come from the deepest place that it can… let it flow in through your nose and out through your mouth… feel yourself make eye contact with God as you come into God’s gaze… and hold it steadily for as long as you can…

Listen now to Paul speak of the peace of Christ in the Letter to the Philippians…

Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Sojourn

Dear Gravity & We Dream of Eden

After making a decision, wait patiently for a quiet, lasting peace… not just the relief of having decided, but a deep abiding peace…

Use one of these means to come to a deeper sense of peace around a decision once made…

Hold the decision in God’s gaze, and see if a deeper rightness begins to settle, even in the midst of tension and grief at what you are leaving behind…

Imagine a letter Jesus is writing about you, naming your qualities, and with compassion, naming your struggles, dreaming about what is to come…

Write a foundational statement: who God is for you, who you are for God, and what is the calling God has for you…?

How do you want to use your energy and awareness…?

Spend some time asking God for confirmation of your decision… and listen carefully to God’s response… remaining open to the different ways in which that deep abiding peace might be given…

As you move on from this retreat, consider keeping a daily Gratitude Journal… for each day, simply write one thing for which you are grateful… one thing for which you are sorry… and one thing which you desire from God… That thank you, sorry, and please is a simple prayer you can make every day of your life…

God, before all else, you are the ground upon which I stand, you are holding me in being, and you love me every day.
