Find a place where you feel comfortable yet alert. If you are able, you might want to stand. Let your hands fall loosely by your side.
Listen to the sounds around you.
Become aware of your breathing, of its gentle rhythm.
Become aware of God’s loving presence.
Ask God to shed light on this time.
Think back over the readings of this week, some of them with challenging messages: The demands of following Jesus. The trust required. The focus on what is important to God.
Is there some new truth you’ve discovered about God? Give thanks.
Is there some issue you’re grappling with? Let God know.
What gift or grace do you need as you go forward into today or the coming days? You can ask for that now.
Spend some time, simply, in the presence of God.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
