Some people give me life. Some drain the life out of me. And quite a few do both…
I call to mind someone, just one person for now, who makes my heart smile. Who is that person? What is it about them that I warm to?
I stay with this recollection and savour it... I thank God for them in my own words... and I offer a prayer on their behalf.
Now I call to mind, not someone who makes me feel unsafe, but someone that I find challenging. Who comes to mind? Do I resist even thinking of this person?
Let God be with you in this. Notice how you are feeling about them...
Ask God to help you to offer a prayer for this person. Take a moment to find the right words and offer it to God... and breathe in God’s love, right into your body, and then out towards that person…
Perhaps other people have come to mind during this time, or they might come to mind now. Offer a prayer for each one as they come to mind.
For each one, breathe in God’s love and then breathe out that love towards the person…
I thank you God that you call me into relationships of many kinds and that you are at work on me, in and through them all!
