Our Loving Father, God

In Isaiah 41 verse 10, the Lord says this:

Do not be anxious: I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

In this Examen, we will take some time to put our trust in God and bring all our needs to him.

Step 1: Invite God to be present with you.

I leave the busy-ness of the day, become quiet, inwardly focused, allowing God to speak into the silence of my heart.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Step 2: Give thanks

Allow something to come to mind for which you are really thankful for at the moment – another person, an achievement, life, an experience. Say thank you to God for it.

Step 3: Review your day.

Let one thing come to mind that you most want to ask God for help with today.

Is it something in your lessons, or your free time? Is it a relationship with a family member or friend?

Whatever it is, take time now to ask for God’s help with it.

Step 4: Seek forgiveness.

Looking back over the day, was there a moment when you feel you could have acted in a better way? If so, take a moment to say sorry to God for it.

Step 5: Look forward.

Look ahead to the day to come. A positive relationship with God requires a partnership – for you to work with him. How do you want to work with God to achieve what you asked him for in the earlier step?

We end by giving glory to God, who hears all our prayers, and knows all that is in our hearts:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
