Welcome to the Saturday Examen.
We began our week of prayer with some words from Psalm 42: 'My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.'
As you arrive in prayer today, sit comfortably and repeat these words as an expression of your longing to meet with the Lord today. You may like to breathe in the first line, and breathe out the second:
'My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.'
The next line of the psalm is:
'When shall I come and behold the face of God?'
Spend time now seeking to behold the face of God.
We remember from our readings during the week those who beheld the face of the Lord.
The psalmist David...
The crowd gathered with Jesus on the Mount...
The mute man who was delivered from a demon...
Was there a moment this week when you felt that you beheld the face of God? What was happening for you then?
And was there a time when did you felt distant from God? What was happening for you then?
Try to gather up these moments in remembrance and gratitude of God’s presence with you.
Psalm 42 continues with the lines:
'Then I will go to the altar of God,
to God my exceeding joy;
and I will praise you with the harp,
O God, my God.'
Try taking these words of praise and make them your own, perhaps exchange the word 'harp' with the word, voice or life or work or something personal to you.
Know that the Lord is with you and will continue to be close in the coming week.
You have given all to me
To you, Lord, I return it
Everything is Yours
Do with it what You will
Give me only Your love and Your grace
That is enough for me
Amen
