Today is Monday the 2 March, in the First week of Lent.
The Kyiv Chamber Choir sing In Thy Kingdom from One Thousand Years Of Ukrainian Sacred Music.
Today’s reading is from the Gospel of Matthew.
In today’s passage from St Matthew’s Gospel Jesus speaks about a time when he will come in glory. Everyone will gather before him to be judged. Jesus is seated on the throne. Pause with this image for a moment… Imagine yourself standing before Jesus. What can you see? How are you feeling?
What might it mean for you to be placed on the right hand of Jesus? Or on the left?
Jesus says that when we serve and care for the most vulnerable in society, we are serving and caring for Jesus himself. Who do you find most challenging to care for? Why might that be? Are you able to allow yourself to be cared for by another?
As you hear the passage again, listen carefully to the list of those who Jesus calls you to serve. Allow particular people or situations to come to mind as you listen.
Whom might Jesus be calling you to care for in order to inherit the kingdom prepared for you? What’s your response? Talk to Jesus now. Ask him to reveal his love, through your care for others and their care for you.
