Today is Monday the 14th of October in the 28th week of Ordinary Time.
One Hope Project sing, ‘Come Close’. As you begin your time of prayer today, draw near to the Lord, who draws near to you.
Today’s reading is from St Paul’s letter to the Romans.
You’ve just heard Paul describe himself to the Christian community living in Rome. He’s “a servant of Jesus”, “called to be an apostle”, “set apart for the gospel”, and more. Can you recognise anything of yourself in any of those descriptions?
The people he’s addressing are “God’s beloved”, “called to be saints”. Perhaps you can more easily see something of yourself there?
How might you describe yourself, and the ways you normally relate to God, to someone who asked? You could use some of Paul’s words here, or words of your own.
The reading also describes Jesus – listen out for that as it is read again.
Speak for a moment of what you have seen here to the God who offers you grace and peace.
