The Lord is my Light
Margaret Rizza
Today is Sunday the 8th of March, the third Sunday in Lent.
'The Lord is my light, my hope, my salvation. In him I trust.' We rely on many things in our lives. On other people; on our wealth or our possessions; on our power, or reputation, or status; on our own ingenuity and talents. But as I enter into prayer now, can I put all those things aside for a moment, and place all my trust in God, my light, my hope, my salvation?
3:42
Today’s reading is from Saint Paul’s Letter to the Romans.
Romans 5:1-2, 5-8
Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God.
And hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Indeed, rarely will anyone die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person someone might actually dare to die. But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.

The Lord is my Light (Instrumental)
Margaret Rizza
In this passage from St Paul’s letter to the Romans, Paul lists his reasons why we can be assured of God’s grace and love. There are no conditions on God’s love. You can’t earn it, because it is given before you even begin trying to earn it. You can’t be good enough for it, because there is no 'good enough'. How do you respond to God’s grace and love?
'Hope does not disappoint.' Paul’s concept of hope isn’t just wishful thinking; it is knowing. What is your relationship with hope like at the moment?
As you listen to the passage again, notice your own response to Paul’s reassurance.

9:19
In a time of prayer, pay attention to what you are carrying into this day - judgement, fatigue, gratitude, restlessness, hope. Allow yourself to be open to receiving the grace you need.
11:16
You have given all to me
To you, Lord, I return it
Everything is Yours
Do with it what You will
Give me only Your love and Your grace
That is enough for me
Amen
