Today is Friday the 25 October, in the 29th week of Ordinary Time.

Michael George and the Corydon Singers, conducted by Matthew Best sing Libera Me from Fauré’s Requiem. ‘Deliver me, O Lord, from everlasting death, on that dread day when the heavens and earth shall quake and you shall come to judge the earth by fire.’

Today’s reading is from St Paul’s Letter to the Romans, using the Nick King translation.

Paul is here sharing a difficulty that many of us experience, that it is easy to see what we ought to do, but not so easy really to do it... Have you ever had Paul’s experience of knowing that there is something that you should be doing, but somehow not managing to do it?

Reflect for a moment on how you faced this challenge at the time…   Now, reflect for a moment on what Paul’s answer to difficulty like this is…

Listen again to the passage, and ask, with St Paul, “Who can deliver me?”

Finally, as you listen to this passage, gather together some words that might turn into a prayer to God. Then speak it to God in Jesus Christ.
