Today is Easter Thursday, the 25 April

Nóirín Ní Riain, with the monks of Glenstal Abbey, sings a song in Irish, telling the story of the discovery of the empty tomb and proclaiming the Resurrection.  As you begin to pray today, listen to the joy the deep desire expressed in this music to share the good news of the Resurrection, to share the hope and the joy that it brings…

Today’s reading is from the Gospel of Luke.

Jesus’ first words here are to give peace to a group of disciples who are frightened and doubting. What part of your own life at the moment is most in need of the risen Christ’s gift of peace?

Halfway through the story, the disciples are still wondering, trying to make sense of what’s going on. It’s completely outside their experience, and ours, that someone who’s dead should come back, talking and eating. It’s no surprise that they wonder!  What’s your own honest response to this story?

Now, as you listen to the account again, try to put yourself in the place of one of the disciples. What goes on in you as Jesus appears and talks?

Jesus says to you: “You are a witness of these things.” How do you want to respond to him, and to these words?
