Welcome to the Saturday Examen.

During this week, you have reflected on how the scriptures in both the Old and New Testaments invite you into a deeper relationship with the living God. You have been reminded of God’s faithful love and mercy, and of Jesus’ call to grow in discipleship and bear the fruits of the Spirit.

Begin by looking back over the week.

Which passage, or passages, have stayed with you? Why have they remained with you? What did you notice or experience?

What has brought you joy this week? What has surprised you? Give thanks to God for signs of God’s presence and grace.

Now, notice where you have felt uncomfortable or resistant to God? What has challenged, stretched or unsettled you? Tell God about these times, too.

As you look ahead to the coming week, ask for the grace to recognise and receive all that God desires to give you. Pray for openness to the Spirit, who leads you deeper into the truth and love of Jesus Christ.

Rest for a moment in God’s presence, trusting that you are held in love.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be
